In 2014 I moved from a small Easteran Pennsylvania town to Los Angeles, California. The sights and sounds were, at times, over whelming. But curiously entertaining. I was immediately intrigue by the atmospher and vibe in Southern California. The food, the beaches, the touristy landmarks. Venus Beach, Santa Monica Pier, Hollywood walk of Fame. My personal favorite is Griffith Observatory. My children emersed themselves in the culture and had loved every minute of it. One of our favorite places to eat is Porto’s in Burbank. My children also got to experince two Red Carpet premiers, seeing movies weeks before opening to the public. This time taught me to never be afraid to take a risk.
While in California, I also started the transition from mother to grandmother. The excitement and good fortune just kept coming. My granddaughter was going to be living in Pennsylvania. So I would send pictures and report to my son all our adventures so he could share with my granddaughter. The only temptation to go home (Pennsylvania) was this sweet baby. However, showing her courage to take chances will hopefully empower her to travel and feel adventerous.
After a couple years in California, I was given another opportunity to move back across the country to Florida. I figured why not? Everyone retires to the south. I am already a grandmother, so retirement is just around the corner. This will also make traveling to see my granddaughter easier.
So starts yet another adventure as we drove from San Bernadino, CA to Tampa, FL. Three days of continuous driving, in a U-haul. As uncomfortable as it sounds, we were mesmerized by the sights along the way and the excitement of a new life. Arriving in Tampa seems like a blur. During our time there we discovered beaches like no other. The water of the Gulf was warm and inviting. Ybor City has an active night life with intriguing people and places to eat. We found a Chinese place that is one of my favorites.
I cannot express the importance of follwoing your dreams. Whether it is traveling, further your education or starting a family. Never compromise happiness for convienence of the expected.
